Chair Talk

November 2023

At our November 3, 2023 Coordinating Council Meeting we had Bethany Beauchine, Keri Rust and Alexis, a new staff member from Employee Benefits give the program. We learned that rates for Health, Dental and Vision were not going up. Recently you should have received the Retiree Benefits Bulletin. HANG ON TO IT! That Bulletin has valuable information you may need in the year to come. In 2024 2 HMOs: McLaren Health Plan (MHP) and Physicians Health Plan (PHP) will no longer be available to State Employees or State Retirees.

Blue Cross has been mailing several documents to State Retirees. READ THEM AND KEEP THEM. These mailings are not junk mail! You may need those mailings in 2024. BC/BS have contracted with 2 companies: Landmark Health and Signify Health. Both companies offer in-home Health Services at no cost to the retiree. Your Chapter President should have more information about these programs in the next few days. We will post more info on the SERA website in the next few days.

This is an open-enrollment time to sign up for other Medicare programs. As far as I am concerned these other companies programs are junk mail. You should only pay attention to mail you get from BC/BS, Optum Rx, Employee Benefits or Office of Retirement Services. If you have doubts about the mailings, call your Chapter’s Insurance person or me 810-240-8380.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING
