Chair Talk

August 2022

The JEC for Pharmacy Benefits has chosen OptumRx to continue as the provider of the Prescription Drug Benefits for Active State Employees and Retirees. The SERA representative that participated on the JEC was James Borer, President of the Coldwater Chapter and a retired Pharmacist. When I was talking with Bethany Beauchine (Employee Benefits) she was commenting how much of an asset to the JEC that Jim was. She told me that it helped the JEC having a Pharmacist on the committee when they were discussing issues. Being a member of a JEC is a time-consuming task. There is a lot of reading, note taking and discussing of various issues among the members of the JEC. A big thank you to Jim for taking this assignment on.

Sadly, Tony Grudnoski had to cancel the meeting in Marquette this month for lack of help in putting the meeting on. Many of us were looking forward to spending a few days in Marquette. The country around Marquette is beautiful. We are looking forward to the next Marquette trip.

Covid has put Peggy and I in quarantine last week and it looks as if it might be another week before we are able to get back to normal. Thankfully Peggy has pretty much just had a persistent cough and the first week a sore throat and headaches.
